Amphoras
Amphoras have been used for thousands of years as a means of carrying wine, olive oil, and other goods in the Mediterranean region. Their pointed bottoms allowed them to be stuck in the sand and stand up straight. I love the way the form is both useful and beautiful.
I enjoy creating modern versions of the amphora. Since it's usually not possible or convenient to stick them in sand today, I have iron stands built to hold them.
These two large amphoras are a part of my "Anatolian Sun" series.
