The Kusadasi ("Dove Island") Series

These pure white porcelain bowls are inspired by my childhood home on the Aegean Coast in Turkey. My town is called "Kusadasi," which means "dove island." I love the shape of the dove and the way that they symbolize peace and good will.

For the last few years, I've really enjoyed working with porcelain clay. I love the clean, white forms and surfaces that I can create.

Bathing the inside of the bowl with the sublime blue of the Aegean Sea provides the finishing touch – and makes the inside food safe.
